By using the less-cluttered 5.8 GHz frequency, the TRU8885-3 is able to offer a clearer, more intelligible signal than older phones operating on lower bands. Caller ID/call waiting compatible (requires subscription through your local phone company), the TRU8885-3 holds up to 200 numbers in its internal caller ID/phone directory (100 on the base, 100 on the handset), while the display-and-dial feature allows you to quickly scroll through the caller ID list and dial the displayed number with the touch of a button. Ten speed-dial presets allow you to easily call the most frequently used outgoing numbers, and an alphabetical search feature provides an easy way to locate numbers stored in the internal memory.

Handset and base speakerphones provide a hands-free communication method, while a direct link mode allows you to use the handsets as walkie-talkies. Four-way conferencing allows several phones to communicate with an outside call. An intercom function enables communication with other phones on the same system, and the call transfer feature lets you transfer calls from the base phone to the handset and vice versa.

The all-digital answering machine has a 12-minute maximum record time and a four-minute maximum message length. A conversation record feature provides a quick and easy way to save important information such as directions, while full remote operation allows you to check your messages even when you are away from home. A page/handset locater feature makes finding a lost handset quick and painless. Handset and ringer controls let you adjust volume levels to your liking, while the redial button automatically calls the last three outgoing numbers. The TRU8885-3 also comes with a one-year limited warranty.

After reading all the reviews for both the uniden and panasonic, I went with the uniden. Two of the phones took 24-48 hours to fully charge and one never did.

I highly recommend this phone system. After that, I get excellent reception anywhere in or outside my tri-level home and have not had any further problems with the batteries.

I ended up going to Walmart and buying a replacement battery which charged within 24 hours. I have the Star Spangled Banner assigned to family members.

I bought this phone over a year ago and we still think its a great phone system. Like a number of reviews, I experienced some of the same problems but now know that it was the batteries that were failing to accept a charge.

I especially like the feature that allows you to assign a ring tone to assigned numbers in the phone's phonebook.

This is the second battery that this phone has had and I don't plan on buying another one for it. My handset is placed back on the charger every time I'm not on the phone and still it only has a 19 minute battery life for a call. Stay away at all costs.

I am only giving it 4 stars because after about six months the battery on one of the sets stopped holding a charge and needs to be replaced. After several problems with other brands of phones, I purchased this about a year ago from another source (I believe it was even a refurbished set), and it has worked great for me. I have recommended this set to my family and friends, and in the future when it comes times to replace my own I will most likely buy Uniden again.

I ordered this set for my mother. Annie I have this phone so do my 2 sons and my daughter. I do not think you can buy a better phone system and neither do my kids.

Perhaps because we are diligent about putting them back on their charger nightly.We encountered a small issue which was a bit of interference on our kitchen handset - and that only occurred when we placed our wireless laptop near it.The only issue I am finding now is that I would like to add an additional handset or two and they seem to be pretty expensive - considering what we paid for the entire system at Costco originally.Overall though, I think it is a 5-star system - which is the rating I'm giving it. I don't know. We bought this system from Costco about 3 years ago - it came with 3 handsets and the base unit answering machine.It is THE BEST system we have owned by far. We have experienced NONE of the problems that others have mentioned here. maybe we're in the right location.Our phones have never had a battery die on them - NEVER - and we use them ALOT.
